Everyone knows that throwing an epic and memorable party takes a lot of work and dedication. Consider these 8 things before you send out those invites:

  1. Location is Everything

The cheaper option is to host your party at your own place. However, if you lack the adequate room to comfortably fit everyone, then you might need to think outside the box a little bit. You also need to consider how much you want to spend on the party if you’re considering hosting at a venue. Some cheap location options, include: public parks, the house of a friend or family member, local condo association clubhouses, and party rooms at your favorite restaurant or bar.

  1. Perfect Your Guest List

You obviously can’t party all by yourself, so the first step to throwing an epic party is to get working on that perfect guest list. It’s a given that you’re going to invite those you’re closest with, but the whole point of throwing a great party is to bring everyone together from all parts of your life. Invite your best friends and the family members that you think will have a good time. However, also make sure to think about coworkers, friends of friends who you’d like to get to know a little bit better, neighbors, and even friends who live a distance away that might take the drive to come party with you. As they say, the more the merrier.

  1. Pick a Theme and Deck the Halls

Now, a theme is not necessary, but it does add a bit more fun and creativity to the event. The fun that goes into dressing up and getting all dolled up will sure leave your guests with awesome memories. There’s so many fun themes out there, including: 80’s theme, toga theme, seven deadly sins theme, Hawaiian shirt theme, hippies’ vs hipsters theme, hair band theme, ugly sweater theme, and even the classic Halloween costume theme. Every square inch of your party space does not need to be decorated for the area to look visually appealing. In fact, over-decorating can even look tacky. If you’re a simple person, you can get away with just a few floral bouquets and a banner or two. If you really enjoy decorating, then get imaginative and let the creative juices flow. The possibilities are endless.

  1. Good Eats and Drinks

When choosing the type of food and beverages you will be serving at your shindig, you should really take the age of the people coming and your budget into consideration. You can get away with serving low-priced grub when hosting a party for a bunch of twenty something year old’s. It is safe to say that if you’re hosting a party for a mature group of people, then you might want to consider splurging a little bit more on the food you will be putting on the menu. The same goes for wine and spirits. Younger folks are not half as picky as older folks when it comes to the quality of alcohol served at gatherings.

  1. Entertainment is a Must

Of course, chatting it up with everyone is always fun, but you will need at least one form of entertainment for your party for it to be a great success. It can be as simple as music playing in the background from a phone connected to speakers or it can be as fancy as hiring professional belly dancers or a professional band to play some tunes. Some people even use their pools as a form of entertainment. This idea is great especially if you are having an Hawaiian or beach/pool party theme. Having your guests interact with each other while playing fun party games is also another great idea. The entertainment you choose will greatly depend on your budget. Have fun with it but don’t overthink it too much!

  1. Dress to Impress

When hosting a party, you want to make sure you are looking your very best. If you are hosting a themed party, make sure you stick to the theme when picking out your outfit. When hosting a festive holiday party, stick to colorful, bold, and sparkly apparel. For a business party, stick to a sheath dress or neutral suit. If you’re hosting a cocktail party, try to wear an elegant dress with a killer pair of heels. If you’re a guy, go with a white shirt, dark tie, and a nice pair of oxfords. Outdoor parties call for long and flowy maxi dresses with cute sandals and bright jewelry. If you’re a male, a nice pair of khakis and a plain button up shirt will do just fine. If you choose to host a relaxed party where comfortability is key, wear your everyday clean clothes that are wrinkle free and in good condition.

  1. Collect Beautiful Moments

Pictures, pictures, pictures! You can never have enough pictures of the people you love having a great time. Take pictures yourself, have your guests take pictures, or if you can afford to do so, hire a professional photographer to snap the event for you. One great thing about photos is that they will be with you for your life. You can look back on them several years down the road to remember what an awesome time you had.

  1. Be Thankful

Though it is not a must, it is nice to make sure your guests leave with a token of your thanks for them having attended your party. It doesn’t have to be fancy or even expensive, but a simple party favor is always appreciated. You can pick a fun party favor that goes with your theme or you can simply come up with your own imaginative party favors. Much like with the decorations, this is your time to really show off your uniqueness, creativity, and inventiveness.
